Integral Energy has restored supply to 1000 Blue Mountains and Lithgow homes and businesses following heavy snow falls and strong winds overnight.
Good progress is being made to restore supply to the remaining 1028 customers in the area.
Suburbs affected by snow include Blackheath, Mt Victoria, Mt Wilson, Mt Irvine, Bell, Wallerawang, Rydal and Tarana.
Wind has brought down powerlines and caused damage to the network at Silverdale, Hampton and Duckmaloi.
“Integral Energy has brought in additional field crews to accelerate restoration times. While we aim to restore power as soon as possible, snow and fallen trees are making access difficult for crews, a spokesperson said.
“We have received reports of a large tree blocking access to Jenolan Caves Road which will affect restoration times for Hampton and Duckmaloi.
“We apologise for any inconvenience to customers. Our priority is to ensure the safe restoration of supply as soon as possible.”
Integral Energy warned customers to stay well clear of fallen power lines. Customers wishing to report emergency situations should call 131 003.
Integral Energy is one of Australia’s largest energy corporation’s supplying electricity to 820,000 customers situated in Sydney’s West, the Illawarra, Southern Highlands and Blue Mountains.
